NEW AUTHORITY OFFICE BUILDING The Authority has recently purchased property at 111 Bell Drive for the construction of an administrative office building. The new office will be conveniently located steps away from the Township Municipal Center. The building will house the administration and management of the Authority as well as providing customer access and expanded meeting room capacity. The Board of Directors has appointed a Building & Grounds Committee to solicit proposals from architects for the design of the building. The Authority plans to complete the new building prior to the expiration of their current lease in two years. UPPER VALLEYBROOK CAPACITY AUGMENTATION The Authority completed design, obtained all necessary permits, and awarded a contract for capacity augmentation of 2,100 lineal feet of the Authority’s Upper Valleybrook Interceptor in the Brush Run Watershed. Work on the project is scheduled to begin June 2, 2008. The contractor, John T. Subrick, Inc. has 90 days to complete the work. DONALDSONS CROSSROADS SEWAGE FACILITIES PLAN The Authority continued the preparation of the Act 537 Sewage Facilities Plan for the Donaldsons Crossroads Service Area of the Township. This facilities plan will identify the sewage needs of the existing Donaldsons Crossroads sewered area, and the expansion and upgrade requirements needed to the existing Donaldsons Crossroads Water Pollution Control Plant to ensure that it can meet the sewage needs of the community and properly treat the sewage for a 20-year planning horizon. The facility plan is expected to be completed by September 2008 for submittal to regulatory agencies. STONEBROOK SUBSYSTEM MANHOLE REHABILITATION The Authority has a 3-year contract with Robinson Pipe Cleaning, Inc. for the rehabilitation of sanitary sewer manholes. Last year the Authority completed 42 manholes in the Friar Lane subsystem. This year the Authority will complete 57 manholes in the Crossgates area. This project will preserve the structural integrity of the manholes as well as preventing water from infiltrating into the manholes. This infiltration may lead to overloading the system during wet weather. CROSSGATES AREA PIPE LINING PROJECT The Authority has entered into a contract to rehabilitate 3,700 LF of 8” sewer pipe in the Crossgates area. This contract is administered through the South Hills Area Council of Governments (SHACOG). SHACOG is a voluntary organization of municipalities that coordinates and administers programs of regional interest that benefit member municipal governments. |
